Central bank sees no extra tech risks in bank services via Telegram

YEKATERINBURG, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank does not see additional technological risks in provision of banking services via messenger Telegram, Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said on Thursday.

“As to provision of banking services via Telegram channels, our specialists have analyzed it, there are no additional technological risks from the use of Telegram channels, technological risks to be precise,” Nabiullina said.

“But we see that Telegram channels are often exploited as a means of communication by fraudsters. These risks can be reduced by installation by banks of advanced antifraud mechanisms, which should take into account the fact that messengers can be used widely by scammers,” she added.
